We are a Resource Base providing individualised positive support strategies for pupils across the county with social and emotional difficulties within the Foundation Phase curriculum. We work with the pupils, mainstream schools, families and outside agencies to support pupils in ultimately successfully transitioning back to their mainstream school.

The pupils follow a structured routine throughout the day. Morning focus tasks consist of the PATHS curriculum, intense literacy and numeracy activities in line with the Foundation Phase curriculum. Our learning is tailored to each pupils individual stage of development. We feel strongly about holistic learning opportunities that develop pupils self-esteem. Throughout the week our learning in the afternoon is based around physical activity, cooking and life skills, problem solving and visiting the local area.

This term our topic is ‘Y Goedwig’. Everything in our learning is based around a woodland theme. Each Monday we visit a local woodland that the children have named ‘Fairytale Forest’. The focus of each session is based upon developing confidence, making choices and exploring the environment. Our pupils work together to complete tasks and navigate routes through the woodland. There are many areas yet to be explored. The woods acts as a stimulus for our week and inspires traditional tales. We learn storytelling skills and develop our understanding of the world around us through each tale. The children have thoroughly enjoyed ‘The Three Little Pigs’, our next story is food based! Many interesting guesses from our little friends.

Our friends are very inspired by our whole school boat project! We have began developing our ideas of what makes a good boat, visited the RNLI and tested our recycled boats in the local pool.
